Banff Mountain Film Festival
Feeling outdoorsy but maybe more watching than doing? Well, The Banff Mountain Film Festival is going to be your thing. As one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world first started in Canada, the World Tour edition of the festival is now in its fourth year of UK touring. This is a widely sold out event but there are still a few spaces in Glasgow and Inverness so get in quick to catch a selection of extraordinary short films from the world's leading adventure film makers. 

The Winter Words Festival (25th Jan -3rd Feb) 

Winter Words Festival
Ten days of celebration of the written and the spoken word. From stories of Scotland’s landscapes to tales of adventure and exploration. You can hear tales from Gavin Francis, a doctor at the British Antarctic Survey's southernmost outpost for fourteen months or learn of the Fauna of Perthshire with Polly Pullar. And with plenty of talks, stories and recitals never mind workshops and improv there will be plenty to get involved with.

Celtic Connections ( 17th Jan–3rd Feb)

Celtic Connections
From a single venue event 15 years ago to an 18-day festival with over 250 events and 1500 musicians Celtic Connection is a big event in Glasgow. With a range of concerts featuring an array of renowned artists. Each year, visitors come from around the globe to the festival, where international artists perform alongside the very best Scottish talent.
