World under construction

So turns out every place I've been has something in common... everywhere is a building site and its really starting to ruin my trip.

First stop Reykjavik and half the town centre is shut off for construction works, our stop at Thingvellir National Park was plagued by groundwork and even at Stokkur Geysir the visitor centre site was in the midst of a remodel. Even on leaving Iceland the Keflavik airport was a building site.

The entire of Toronto city is currently undergoing a revamp, and I even got woken up at 5am at my hostel with works outside.

In Niagara Falls it was the hostel itself that was undergoing works and then on trying to fly out of Toronto my trip to the airport was plagued by subway maintenance meaning I got to try and figure out the tram system and where it would connect with a bus while half asleep at 5am in the morning.

Fingers were crossed for San Francisco but nope a visit to Alcatraz and half the site was boarded up.

Now I think about it half of Glasgow airport is still in the process of reconstruction for the Glasgow 2014 Games so maybe I should have taken this as an omen.
